‘Cancer is a Waxing Phase of the Moon’ is a piece questioning biblical gender roles, as well as biblical power dynamics. It is a suggestion of woman’s capacity for sainthood outside and beyond the functions of childbirth or worship, as well man’s capacity for weakness and smallness despite religious/spiritual stature. It is a scenario, in which purity and bile swap vessels. And then, upon closer look, swap vessels yet again via reflection and doubt.
…or, maybe, it is just a messy love story with an overly complicated verbose script, a confused butcher, and a train on the tramrail. (*you might want to revisit the tramway, and where it leads, in ‘Master and Margarita’ Maybe, it’s a ‘Master and Margarita’ illustration?).
